✨Day 1: Chat with AI Like a Pro
Hello AI Explorer!
Welcome to Day 1 of "7 Advanced AI Service Business Skills in 7 Days".
Today our focus will be learning how to craft detailed prompts using ChatGPT. It doesn't matter if you are using the free or paid version of ChatGPT.
However, I highly recommend you subscribe to the paid version so you can access ChatGPT 4, Dall-e, and other key tools like Custom GPT.
Some of these tools will be used in this 7-day crash course.
Before we dive into the frameworks I want to give a quick primer on how Large Language Models (LLM) and ChatGPT work.
Imagine a library filled with all the books, articles, and websites in the world. Now, imagine if this library could talk and answer your questions.
That's kind of what a large language model (LLM) is like.
It's a type of artificial intelligence (AI) that has read a massive amount of text and learned how to understand and use language just like humans do.
ChatGPT is a similar LLC designed by OpenAI and is really good at chatting with people.
What makes ChatGPT useful is that it doesn't just give short answers; it can have full-on conversations and can even remember what you talked about earlier.
Now, one of the biggest hurdles in using ChatGPT is getting it to understand exactly what you need. Remember, what you input into the chat will define your output.
You might have found yourself asking:
"How do I get clear answers from ChatGPT?"
"Why doesn’t this ChatGPT get what I’m saying?"
"Is there a way to make ChatGPT understand me better?"
The key is how you talk to it. And that's what today is all about.
Learning to use AI tools, especially ChatGPT, is like learning a new language. But don't worry, it's not as hard as it sounds.
In fact, we’re going to simplify it with our 7-part prompt framework. I am not going to take credit for creating this framework.
There are many LLM frameworks out there but I have refined and combined ideas and frameworks to one that is easy to use for anyone.
This framework is your secret recipe for making ChatGPT understand and answer your questions just right.
It's about asking the right way, so you get exactly what you're looking for.
Let's break it down:
1. Identify Your Goal and Role: Be clear about what you want to achieve with the prompt.
Include any specific metric you want to achieve with your response.
Example: Goal - Develop a strategy for enhancing client engagement. My goal is to increase the client engagement by 30%. I am a marketing professional.
2. Understand Your Audience: Who is the prompt for, and what do they need?
Example: Audience - A marketing professional aiming to improve client relationships.
3. Set the Context: Provide relevant details to get a focused response.
Example: Context - Strategies should be feasible for a small to mid-sized marketing agency.
4. Choose Your Tone: Decide on the tone of your query and the expected response.
Example: Tone - Professional and insightful.
5. Structure Your Query: Formulate your question clearly and concisely. Include anything you don’t want ChatGPT to do.
Example: Structure - “Can you suggest effective client engagement strategies for a mid-sized marketing agency?
Do not focus on e-commerce agencies and only give me answers for a SaaS company.”
6. Be Specific: Include important details and examples to guide the response. Example: Specificity - Mention 'budget-friendly', 'digital tools', and 'personalized approaches'.
Example: Use the Demand Forecasting model
7. Customize and iterate: Tweak your prompt based on the initial response to refine the results.
Example: Iteration - If responses are too general, ask for strategies specific to digital marketing or client feedback mechanisms.
Example: Provide a detailed Q&A list at the end of the response
Don’t worry if you are not able to understand the framework fully. We will discuss more examples below.
Now, we will use the framework to create a prompt for ChatGPT. Think of a question or a problem, and craft a prompt using these seven steps. I am going to use a specific SaaS salesperson example and break it down using the 7-step framework.
Example:
Goal/Role: Get sales ideas to promote a SaaS product called FinFlow that helps the financial department eliminate paperwork by using workflow automation.
Audience: Medium-sized companies with 100 to 250 employees.
Context: Financial analyst struggling with paperwork in loan approval process.
Tone: Professional but not overly optimistic
Structure: Open-ended but focused. Do not include any technical jargon.
Specifics: Financial analyst in their early 30s. Use the “Sandler Selling System” model to develop your response.
Customization: Add an FAQ section at the end with the most frequently asked questions and rebuttals.
Great! Let’s craft a crispy prompt using this structure:
(Note - On Day 7, you'll receive a document listing all prompts from this course for easy reference.)
Act as a world-class sales coach. I am a sales professional working for a SaaS company called FinOrg. Your task is to generate sales ideas to promote my SaaS product called FinFlow which helps the financial department eliminate paperwork by using workflow automation.
My target audience is financial analysts struggling with paperwork in the loan approval process.
My target company size is medium-sized mortgage companies with 100 to 250 employees located on the West Coast of the United States of America.
Keep your tone professional but not overly optimistic.
Please do not include any technical jargon or emojis.
The financial analyst I am targeting are in their early 30s. Use the “Sandler Selling System” model to develop your response.
Add an FAQ section at the end with the most frequently asked questions and rebuttals.
If you have access to ChatGTP 4 then you can also add a link to your product page and include additional context.

Super! Let’s copy-paste the above prompt and give it a try and see how ChatGPT responds.
Here is what I got from ChatGPT:
Woohoo! See how a well-crafted prompt can make a world of difference.
Remember, ChatGPT is a tool, and like any tool, how well it works depends on how well you communicate with it.
Today, you're taking the first step toward mastering this powerful tool.
Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Stay tuned for Day 2, where we'll dive deeper into the world of AI for problem-solving and insights.
Happy Prompting,
